Fall 2018 — "Meditation Stone" won Honorable Mention in the Randall Jarrell Poetry Contest; poem published in StorySouth.

October 2014 — "O Beautiful Bug," a memoir, selected by Joseph Bathanti to be the recipient of the Linda Flowers Award, presented by the North Carolina Humanities Council.

Winter 2013 — "Fifty Cents," a poem, published on KROnline (Kenyon Review Online).

2011 — Won the first James Applewhite Poetry Prize for "Lamp," from North Carolina Literary Review. Poem published in 2012.


December 2010 — four poems included in The Southern Poetry Anthology, Volume III: Contemporary Appalachia, published by Texas Review Press.


August 2010 — Poetry chapbook, Naming the Constellations, published in Spring Street Editions' chapbook series.


2008 — Won the Poet Laureate Award from the N. C. Poetry Society for “Naming the Constellations,” which was published online and in Pinesong.
